Bruised Knees

Bruised Knees

Framing is done.  Yeehaw! Construction will be much slower and not as fun to watch for the next few weeks.  Plumbing, electrical, and the duct work are being installed.
Lots of wood and trash everywhere.

See, I told you the duct work and plumbing stuff isn't as fun to see.

Here is a view of the back of the house. It's a little nicer to look at.

Here is busy Abby.  She likes to have jobs.  She really likes jobs if she can get dirty.

If Abby doesn't have a job she will find something to do.  If Abby finds something to do that is usually very, very BAD!

Jesse broke his arm!  We had a good run without any broken bones, but Jesse had to challenge it.  He was so brave.  Jesse only shed a few tears at home.

The nurses all loved him and said he was their superhero for being so brave.

Yes, it was broken indeed!

Jesse was hardly phased by his cast.  It barely slowed him down.
I don't think Jesse minded being a celebrity for a little while.

Life rarely slows down for us these days.

My first baby turned 12 this year! I don't know how this could have happened so quickly.  Emma always amazes us with her talents, beauty, and love for others.  We feel lucky to be her parents.

Winter skies stand out so much against the drab ground and leafless trees.  I never get tired of looking out the windows, or what will be windows.

Well here are some windows.  Brian spent a lot of time sealing up any cracks or holes that would prevent the house from being efficient in heating or cooling.

February brought more snow much to the delight of my children.  I would be happy if it stayed away for a long time.

Here we are getting fancy with some shingles.  It is looking like a real house!

Brian sadly lost his cell phone somewhere out here when the plumbing lines were buried.

Things keep moving forward.  Sometimes construction is slower and a little off kilter, but it is in the general vicinity of where we need to go. ;)

Brian and I were able to sneak away for a quick weekend get away up to the mountains. It was a nice break from the chaos of building the house.  Many thanks to the grandparents that risked their lives to stay with our brood.

These are the basement walls and soon to be main floor of the house.

Here's the dining room wall with a little look outside.

One of my favorite things in this house is my kitchen window which looks out to the mountains.  I might not mind washing as many dishes if its this pretty.

Still lots and lots of mud everywhere!  We are running out of shoes that aren't destroyed from all red clay.

Here is the view of the back of the house with the basement.

The 2nd floor is going up.  So excited to see everything taking shape.

 Side view

When you get a dumpster for all the trash you realize how quickly it can fill up. It can also become quite pricey.  It was a beastly job gathering all the excess lumber to burn, but Emma and James did a great job.

Then came January's beautiful, white blanket.

We also got windows.  Don't be fooled though, there was still a lot of snow inside the house.  We saw very quickly how many different places snow, rain, and wind came in.
There were a lot of changes that occurred on the house getting us so much closer to our move in date. Can you tell how excited I am?!

We are getting used to red, sticky clay being a part of us and staying with us wherever we go.

The basement floor, patio and garage were poured this month.  The kids have loved playing out here.

This is the future driveway.

Can't wait to have some rocking chairs out here on our front porch one day.

I realize I haven't posted in a LONG time.  In an effort to keep grandparents and family updated on the progress that is taking place on our house I am going to attempt to post some pictures.

It was exciting to finally see something of our dream finally taking shape.  Basement walls going up.
Plumbing lines being planned and laid out.  It is strange to walk around where future rooms be in less than a years time.

Still a lot of work ahead of us, but it is so exciting!
So much to be thankful for.

I love My Santa

My Santa knew just what I would love for Christmas!  I received my very own iPhone 5.  I can text now! Well sort of.  I am really bad at it, but I message friends, check email, take pictures, and pin things to Pinterest wherever I am.  It is amazing! I also love having a fun camera with me wherever I go.  The first picture with my iPhone was from our church's Christmas dinner. I am not going to win any awards for this one, but it is nice to capture a memory.
Thank you again to my very kind, thoughtful, and generous husband for getting me my favorite, Christmas gift yet.

Abby Strikes Again

What do you do when you can't find yogurt to eat, if you are two years old?  You get some sour cream of course!  And if that sour cream doesn't taste like yogurt?  You paint with it of course!  Invite a friend, of course, to help you clean it up.

Lick your boots!  Lick the floor!  There's plenty more!

Let's slip and slide.

 Quick, Lucy we better hide!
